The National Cannabis Control Agency (the Agency) hosted an institutional meeting with representatives of the EU4LawEnforcement project, led by the project's International Coordinator, Mr. Giovanni Pasqua, accompanied by the Prosecution Expert, Mr. Carmine Pirozzoli. The Agency was represented by its Director General, Ms. Anila Alliu.
The meeting was held within the framework of mutual institutional introduction and the exchange of information on the Agency's scope of activity, with the purpose of identifying potential areas for cooperation to support the strengthening of institutional capacities and alignment with European Union standards in the field in the field of cannabis control and supervision for medical and industrial purposes.
During the meeting, Ms. Alliu presented the Agency's key areas of developments, the regulatory framework established pursuant to Law No. 61/2023, as well as the control, supervision, and traceability to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity within the system, while preventing the diversion of licensed activities for illegal purposes.
The representatives of the EU4LawEnforcement project also presented the project's main objectives and components, emphasizing the importance of interinstitutional cooperation and the potential for developing joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest, including professional development, the exchange of expertise, and the strengthening of interinstitutional coordination.
The meeting reflected a strong commitment to constructive cooperation and marked an important step towards establishing a sustainable institutional dialogue, supporting efforts to reinforce the rule of law, enhancing institutional capacities and further align cannabis control and supervision practices with European standards.
