On January 14, 2025, the Director General of the National Agency for Cannabis Control/ NACC, Assoc. Prof. Linda Pustina, and the Rector of the Agricultural University of Tirana (UBT), Prof. Dr. Fatbardh Sallaku, signed an important cooperation agreement, opening a new chapter in the partnership between state and academic institutions. This agreement aims to combine academic and practical expertise to promote sustainable development and advance standards in the field of cannabis plant control, cultivation, and processing.
NACC will support UBT in developing curricula covering the legal, technical, and quality control aspects of cannabis plants, offering expertise and knowledge on international standards and technological advancements. Furthermore, NACC will assist UBT in establishing international partnerships in this sector through networks it is part of, enabling the application of best international practices. The support will also include ensuring the highest standards for quality assurance and the establishment of certified laboratories, as well as promoting innovation in cultivation, protection, and monitoring methods for cannabis plants.
This agreement represents a new approach to collaboration, where state institutions and universities join forces to synergize their efforts in the service of sustainable development and technological advancement. This partnership aims not only to improve national standards but also to strengthen Albania’s competitiveness at the international level, positioning the country as a leader in the field of cannabis plant control and processing.
